Built to be usable by everyone
This site was rebuilt with accessibility as a requirement, not an afterthought. It is built to meet WCAG 2.1 AA. Here is what that means in practice, and how to tell us when something falls short.
Colour and contrast
Every text and background pairing on this site meets the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast minimum of 4.5:1, and most exceed it comfortably. The two gold tones are used only where they measure up: bright gold on dark backgrounds (7.87:1) and deep gold on light backgrounds (6.20:1). Text placed over a photograph always sits on a dark overlay so it stays readable regardless of the image behind it.
Real text, not pictures of text
Menus, Happy Hour pricing and the Lunch Special are written on the page as actual text. Screen readers can read every item and price, text can be resized, and nothing important is locked inside an image.
Works without JavaScript
Every page, menu and the reservation form works as plain HTML with no JavaScript required, so nothing breaks for readers using assistive technology, older devices or strict browser settings.
Keyboard and screen reader navigation
Pages use semantic landmarks and a logical heading order, a skip-to-content link is the first thing keyboard users reach, every form field has a visible label, and meaningful images carry alt text while decorative ones are hidden from screen readers. The FAQ uses the browser's native expand and collapse, so it works with any input method.
